Baklava is a Mediterranean dessert made up of 40-50 thin layers of filo pastry, filled with assorted nuts such as cashew nuts, pistachios, almonds, pine nuts and walnuts. It is flavoured with various spices, some of which are cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. The whole pastry is then sweetened with sugar syrup.
